• According to COAS, Pakistan is a country that embraces all of its residents without distinction.
  • He exhorts academics to refute terrorists' deceptive propaganda.
  • The forum also conveys worry on the current Gaza conflict.

In Rawalpindi, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has emphasized that the use of force by any militia, entity, or group other than the state is deemed "unacceptable."

The COAS made these remarks during a meeting with leading Islamic scholars from various schools of thought at the General Headquarters (GHQ). General Munir reiterated that Pakistan belongs to all its citizens, without distinctions based on religion, province, tribe, language, ethnicity, or sect.

He cautioned against intolerance and extreme behavior, particularly targeting minorities and vulnerable segments of society. The COAS praised the Paigham-e-Pakistan Fatwa by religious scholars to counter extremist propaganda and urged its propagation and implementation. He also highlighted the role of Ulema in guiding youth towards understanding Quran and Sunnah, character building, and acquiring academic and technical skills.

The Ulema at the meeting unanimously condemned extremism, terrorism, and sectarianism, pledging ongoing support for the efforts of the state and security forces to foster tolerance, peace, and stability. They emphasized that Islam promotes peace and harmony, distancing themselves from distorted interpretations for vested interests.

The forum endorsed government measures to strengthen the state, including the repatriation of illegal foreigners, the implementation of the One Document Regime, anti-smuggling, anti-hoarding measures, and an anti-power theft drive. Additionally, it acknowledged Pakistan's concerns about terrorism originating from Afghan soil and called for serious actions by Afghanistan to address these concerns.

Expressing distress over the ongoing conflict in Gaza, the forum denounced the atrocities against the people of Gaza as crimes against humanity. The Israeli aggression on Gaza has resulted in a significant loss of lives, including children, and raised concerns about humanitarian conditions.
