In a recent press conference, Balochistan’s Caretaker Information Minister, Jan Achakzai, announcedthe interim government's plan to expedite the deportation of illegal immigrants in response to a surge in terrorist attacks. The minister revealed that around 80,000 illegal Afghans had already been deported as the voluntary departure deadline expired on November 1.
Achakzai highlighted the deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, attributing it to an increase in terrorist infiltration since the interim government of the Taliban assumed control in Afghanistan. The minister emphasized that terrorists exploit Afghan territory to target Pakistani security forces, prompting the decision to repatriate illegal immigrants to their home countries.
The government's commitment extends to repatriating all illegal immigrants, with a significant majority—92%—being Afghan nationals. The minister cited a recent intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Zhob area, where security forces neutralized six terrorists, all identified as Afghan nationals.
Addressing concerns about fraudulent documentation, Achakzai disclosed that the provincial government had blocked approximately 100,000 fake Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) in two districts, with an additional 20,000 fake CNICs blocked in Sindh. He assured that actions would be taken against officials responsible for issuing fake CNICs to illegal immigrants and expressed gratitude to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for their assistance in tracing and blocking CNICs.
Furthermore, Achakzai acknowledged the collaboration of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in helping the provincial government track down illegal immigrants.
